The Friends come from Philipino and they almost sign a working contract for 3 years. There are almost 90K Philippines in Taiwan and spread all over the Taiwan Island. Their working place usually are factory or nursing organization. The factory workers are almost concentrated in Luzhu, Gangshan, Nanzhi and Cianjhen area of Kaohsiung city now. You could usually see them in the church or the Kaohsiung Main Station.

Veronica, Philippines female, works at KMU now and stays in Taiwan for 7 years. This is the second time she come to Taiwan for working. But she is very impressive, she could speak Chinese and she learn Chinese by her own and she also could speak Tagalog and English for surely. From this viewpoint, I am very shameful that I just could speak Taiwanese, Mandarin and Taiwanese-Mandarin. So I catch up the opportunity to practice my Taiwanese-English for an hour.

During the conversation, I actually admire those foreigners working in Taiwan, although they have got the payment every month, not very much, they all take care our elder people in the hospital or home and doing housekeeping. After I understood what they do in Taiwan, I really want to give them the applause and praise.

Conversation with foreigners by treating them to drink coffee is an interesting experience. Not only we could understand the variety of cultures, but also practice our English conversation. It’s a good way to advance our international vision.
